SALIK to charge VAT on all toll tariffs from June 1
Get ready to pay more for on your toll tariffs in Dubai as Salik will now be charging VAT from June 1, 2026
Dubai, 22 May 2026: From June 1st, every passage from under a toll gate in Dubai, motorists will have to shell out a little more, as it will come with Value Added Tax (VAT) along with the toll fee.
Salik Company PJSC (“Salik”), the exclusive toll gate operator in Dubai, has announced that it will now be charging VAT along with the toll fee.
The company in an official press release confirmed that further to its previous disclosure on DFM dated 15 May 2026 regarding
the Value Added Tax (“VAT”), and pursuant to the implementation of the provisions of Federal Law No. (8)
of 2017 and its amendments, the Company will begin applying VAT at the rate of 5% starting from 1 June
2026 on Salik toll gate usage tariffs and tag activation fees.
The VAT amounts collected will be remitted to the Federal Tax Authority (“FTA”) in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations in the United Arab Emirates.
Salik said it reaffirms its full commitment to complying with the regulatory and legislative frameworks adopted in the UAE, while continuing to deliver smart and seamless mobility services that enhance the user experience and support traffic efficiency across Dubai.
Dynamic Pricing
In January 2025, Salik introduced its long-awaited variable toll pricing system, marking the first major pricing overhaul since the toll system launched in 2007.
Until then, motorists paid a flat AED 4 per crossing regardless of time or traffic conditions. Under the new dynamic pricing model, toll charges now vary depending on peak and off-peak hours, with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Salik saying the move was aimed at easing congestion, encouraging smoother traffic flow, and better managing road demand across Dubai.
