IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026: Why India Could Become the Next Global Diamond Trading Hub
IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 has opened in Mumbai with more than 2,100 exhibitors and 3,600 stalls, as India's jewellery industry looks to expand into new global markets through recent FTAs and major reforms aimed at positioning India as a global diamond trading hub.
Dubai, 08 August 2026: The 42nd edition of IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 has opened in Mumbai, bringing together the global gems and jewellery industry as Indian exporters look towards new international markets and opportunities.
Organised by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), the five-day exhibition features more than 2,100 exhibitors across 3,600 stalls, covering over 135,000 square metres across the Jio World Convention Centre and Bombay Exhibition Centre. More than 50,000 visitors, including over 2,700 international buyers from 80+ countries, are expected to attend.
This year's edition comes at an important time for India's jewellery exporters, with recent trade agreements with the UAE, Australia, Oman and the UK creating new opportunities for Indian jewellery in international markets. Agreements with the European Union and New Zealand are also expected to further expand market access once operationalised.
A major development highlighted at the exhibition is India's potential emergence as a global rough diamond trading hub. GJEPC Chairman Kirit Bhansali highlighted the proposed 15-year tax exemption on rough diamond sales through India's Special Notified Zones, which could encourage global mining companies and traders to bring rough diamonds directly to India.
The 2026 edition also marks 25 years of IIJS, celebrating its evolution as one of India's leading B2B platforms for jewellery sourcing, manufacturing, innovation and international business.
Running alongside IIJS Bharat Premiere, the India Gem & Jewellery Machinery Expo (IGJME) features 249 exhibitors showcasing advanced manufacturing technology, automation, tools and precision equipment.
The exhibition also includes initiatives such as The Select Club, 20 Under 40, JewelStart Demo Day and Innov8 Talks, highlighting couture jewellery, emerging industry leaders, technology startups and the future of the global jewellery sector.
With new trade agreements, technology adoption and policy reforms reshaping the industry, IIJS Bharat Premiere 2026 is positioning India for its next chapter as a global jewellery manufacturing and trading powerhouse.
