What’s the Matter with Virat and Anushka?
Owing to their elusive behaviour lately, the media is rife with speculation that former India skipper Virat Kolhi and his Bollywood actress wife Anushka Sharma are addressing domestic concerns
There has been a lot of talk lately about the seemingly unusual behaviour of ace Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and Bollywood star Anushka Sharma. To begin with, the married couple were conspicuous by their absence during the Ram Mandir inaugural festivities on Monday, January 22, 2024. Yes, while so many of his compatriot cricket stars like Sachin Tendulkar, Anil Kumble and Ravindra Jadeja were present, Virat was inexplicably missing.
Plus, while Indian cinema’s big names like Vivek Oberoi, Ayushmann Khurrana, Randeep Hooda and others turned out in force, Virat's spunky spouse was a no-show for the sacred occasion. The couple's absence came despite the fact that a photo of them holding up invitations to the event (in the presence of an RSS party member) went viral. The image showed them displaying the extravagantly embellished invites while beaming away to glory.
Could the reason for Virat opting out of the Temple opening be due to a training session in Hyderabad on Sunday, Jan 21st? Then again his decision to devote his attention to practice is baffling, since he has apparently decided not to join Team India for the upcoming two tests against England. In fact, the entire squad took part in the practice session, including Ravidra Jadeja, who went on to attend the Ram Mandir opening.
A statement by India’s cricket governing body BCCI, says, “Virat has spoken to Captain Rohit Sharma, the team management and the selectors and has emphasized that while representing the country has always been a top priority, certain personal situations demand his presence and undivided attention.” However, Virat has refrained from making public what these reasons are.
Rumous are abounding that his celebrated wife could be grappling with health issues. There has also been widespread speculation that she might be pregnant. The couple had welcomed their first child – Vamika - in 2021. Anushka has mostly shied away from film cameras since 2018, which was a prolific year for her as she appeared in 4 movies (while even producing one). But since then her acting career has been on a hiatus of sorts, having only put in a cameo appearance in 2022’s Qala.
