Inside Virat Kohli’s Plush Mumbai Restaurant One8 Commune | Is it Reviewron Recommended?

This year I celebrated my birthday at Virat Kohli's classic gourmet restaurant One 8 Commune in Juhu. Did you know it’s located inside legendary singer Kishore Kumar’s bungalow where his family still lives? This was an added attraction for my parents.

It’s a dimly lit space adorned with a lot of tasteful artefacts that show Virat himself contributed a lot to the design of the restaurant. There is this huge Virat Kohli autograph inscribed on the wall behind the DJ and this area converts into a dance floor on weekends.

Overall, the space has been thoughtfully utilized, like this mammoth tree which has become a part of the restaurant’s interior.

The exhaustive menu starts with Virat’s favorite and we were happy to see so many vegetarian choices. The prices you see here are NOT INCLUSIVE of the government taxes and are in line with any restaurant of this scale.

For drinks, my brother and I ordered the Berry Punch which was a major hit on our table because it packs quite the punch - if you know what I mean!

The salad was good, and in the two soups we ordered, the Corn Chowder won hands down, over the Veg Hot n Sour soup. And let's just say the Mushroom Googly Dim Sums aren’t just Virat’s favorite anymore…they are mine too! I just wish they served a bigger portion.

And then we ordered this very unique Truffle Pav Bhaji and didn’t regret it.

Then came the potato Dauphi-noise which was way too cheesy and Paneer in chili basil was as expected. We were quite full by now but I had to try the Basilico pizza. It was so good we even packed it for takeaway.

For the desserts, the signature sizzling croissant tasted as great as it looked and so did the saffron tres and the mascarpone cheese cake.

All in all, for the sheer variety of a very well-curated menu and the impeccable hospitality, Virat Kolhli’s One 8 gets a 10 out of 10 and of course reviewron recommended.
