Dubai, 25 Oct 2026: Construction has officially commenced on India Jewellery Park Mumbai (IJPM), a major gem and jewellery manufacturing project being developed by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in Mahape, Navi Mumbai. The ceremony was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, alongside government officials and industry leaders.
Spread across 21.30 acres, the project aims to create an integrated manufacturing hub bringing jewellery businesses, skilled artisans and supporting services together. The development is planned to cover approximately 65.61 lakh sq. ft. of total construction area across 10 blocks for manufacturing units and commercial offices.
Phase 1 will include four blocks with a planned construction area of 24.97 lakh sq. ft. and a carpet area of 13.32 lakh sq. ft. Manufacturing spaces for large and medium businesses will offer floor plates ranging from 1,000 to 25,000 sq. ft. Prices start at ₹10,400 per sq. ft., with zero stamp duty and zero transfer charges, according to the announcement.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the project has an estimated investment potential of ₹50,000 crore and could generate around one lakh direct and indirect jobs. He highlighted its potential to strengthen manufacturing, attract investment and help Indian jewellery businesses access international markets.
GJEPC Chairman Kirit Bhansali described the project as an important step towards expanding manufacturing capabilities, supporting micro, small and medium enterprises, creating employment and improving India’s competitiveness in global jewellery markets.
The project will also benefit from the Maharashtra Government’s Gems and Jewellery Policy 2025. Incentives for eligible businesses include stamp duty and MIDC transfer fee exemptions, specified SGST and electricity duty benefits, and interest subsidies for MSMEs, subject to applicable conditions.
More than 70 companies have already expressed interest in investing in the Park. With construction now underway, GJEPC aims to encourage further participation from manufacturers and jewellery businesses seeking to expand their operations.
The project is expected to strengthen Maharashtra’s position in the global gem and jewellery industry while creating new opportunities for investment, skills development and employment.
