GEMS Education welcomes 1,550 new educators for the 2026/27 academic year, taking its teaching community above 10,000 as it focuses on future-ready education, family partnerships and talent development.
DUBAI, 26 August 2026: GEMS Education has welcomed 1,550 new educators as its schools begin the 2026/27 academic year, taking its educator community to more than 10,000 teachers and school leaders across its network.
The new teachers, representing a diverse global talent pool, join GEMS following an international recruitment drive. The organisation's educator community now represents more than 112 nationalities.
The new cohort was welcomed at GEMS Awareness Day 2026, held under the theme “Family First”, highlighting the importance of strong relationships between schools, students and families.
GEMS Founder and Chairman Sunny Varkey said teachers remain one of the organisation's most important investments, with a focus on attracting talented educators, developing their skills and preparing them for the future of education.
GEMS receives more than 500,000 job applications every year, providing access to teachers from the UAE and around the world. The network also offers opportunities for educators to progress between schools, curricula and leadership roles.
More than 40% of principal appointments over the past year were internal, while over 3,000 GEMS employees have worked with the organisation for more than a decade.
The organisation is also investing in local talent through initiatives such as its Emirati Teacher Assistant Upskilling Programme, which has trained more than 330 Emiratis.
As the new academic year begins, GEMS is expanding its focus on future-ready learning, technology and AI, while continuing to prioritise academic excellence, wellbeing, character development and real-world skills.
The Family First initiative also aims to strengthen partnerships between schools and parents, supporting students both inside and outside the classroom.
GEMS enters the new academic year with around 95% of its targeted student places already secured, reflecting continued confidence in the UAE's education sector.
With more than 10,000 educators across its network, GEMS Education continues to focus on its people, families and preparing students to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
