New Incentives for Emiratis to Marry

While the UAE continues to be flooded with migrants from South Asia and indeed around the world, the birth-rate of Emirati locals is declining. To give a fillip to the Emirati family, the Department of Community Development (DCD, Abu Dhabi) and the social initiative association Fazaa are jointly doling out some incentives for couples to tie the knot.

Those who register with the latter will be guaranteed such benefits as store discounts, personal accident cover and car insurance. And also to ensure that there is smooth sailing on the domestic front, the soon-to-be-launched Medeem Centre for Family Flourishing (MCFF) will arrange for such provisions as marriage counselling and mediation on a regular basis.

What’s more, when Emirati couples subscribe to the MCFF Gold Card, they can avail of enticing discounts on wedding expenses. More specifically, the organisation will grant the happy couple low quotes on the marriage hall and kosha (wedding stage). Additional concessions will include the cost of lighting, sound system, dj music, decorations, photography and even the bride’s dress.

Lt. Colonel Ahmed Bouharoun Al Shamsi - the brain behind the Madeem card - adds that soon-to-be-wed applicants will even be accorded discounts on property, travel, jewellery and more.
