Top Naxal Leader Killed in Bloody Encounter

It’s advantage to Indian Security Forces in the Naxal-ravaged central Indian state of Chhattisgarh. Barely two weeks after the Indian military personnel gunned down 13 of the Maoist insurgents at the key Lok Sabha constituency of Bastar, 29 more Naxals have succumbed to “lead poisoning”.

Indeed, it was a profusion of well-directed bullets on April 16th, 2024 that claimed the dreaded targets, including the prize scalp of Naxal kingpin Shankar Rao. The triumph though did come at a cost: three injured security soldiers. After the intense and long gun-fight ended, the uniformed victors also recovered seven AK-47s and three Light Machine Guns – emphasizing the magnitude of the encounter.

What’s more, the neutralised Shankar Rao who had been running rampant with his cronies in Chhattisgarh’s forests had a bounty of Rs. 25 Lakh on his head. The security forces should be proud to don their caps today... especially with this big new feather in it.
