Already Damp and Damage at Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir!
Noticeable problems have emerged at the landmark temple.
June 25th, 2024: Lord Ram will not be pleased that Ayodhya’s monument built in his honour is already showing signs of disrepair and faulty construction. Yes, barely five months after the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya was inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid much publicity, reports of leakage through the ceiling have surfaced. One would think that with the crores of rupees poured into the construction and a large team of accomplished builders and engineers running the project, something like this would not have occurred.
In a major embarrassment to all involved with the sprawling religious complex, no sooner have the monsoons set in than rain-water is seeping through one interior section. Expressing his astonishment at the occurrence, the Temple’s Chief Pujari Acharya Satyendra Das told the media, “So many engineers are here and the Pran Pratishta was held on January 22nd, but water is leaking from the roof. Nobody would have thought this.” The top priest added that there is no drainage system installed which could make the conducting of prayers hard as the monsoons progress.
In an attempt to defuse the awkward situation, the Mandir’s Construction Committee Chairman – Mr. Nripendra Mishrasaid – told ANI that the Mandir is actually still a work in progress. He elaborated that leakage was “expected” because the affected “Guru Mandap” area was “exposed to the sky” and that the completion of the “Shikhar” on the second floor will “cover the opening”. Mr. Mishrasaid added that the lack of a drainage system in the Sanctum Santorum is because the sacred room has been designed for the “manual” absorption of water. So, for now, it looks like all devotees and temple staff will have to accept these showers of blessings as part of the pooja.
