RAK Hospital Restores Patient Mobility with Advanced Shoulder Surgery
RAK Hospital successfully treated a patient suffering from severe shoulder arthritis for nearly 30 years through advanced bilateral shoulder replacement surgery in Ras Al Khaimah.
Dubai, 13 May 2026:
Keith Lukin, a South African national, had gradually lost almost all shoulder movement over the years, making simple daily activities like driving, dressing, and lifting objects extremely difficult. Despite years of physiotherapy and medical treatments abroad, his condition continued to worsen.
Under the care of Dr. Bharath Patil, advanced MRI and CT scans revealed severe joint degeneration and complete cartilage loss in both shoulders.
Doctors performed a bilateral anatomical total shoulder arthroplasty, an advanced shoulder replacement procedure designed to restore natural movement and reduce pain. The surgeries were completed in stages, followed by rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
Following treatment, the patient regained nearly 90% shoulder mobility and described the results as life-changing.
Dr. Patil said many people ignore chronic shoulder pain or delay treatment due to lack of awareness and fear of surgery. He emphasized that early diagnosis and timely medical care can significantly improve outcomes and quality of life.
The hospital also highlighted the growing availability of advanced orthopedic procedures in the UAE, allowing patients to access world-class treatment locally.
