Stampede at ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ Promo in Lucknow

The stars of the upcoming Bollywood action movie Bade Miyan Chote Miyan inadvertantly stirred some real-life action on a promotional visit to Lucknow on Monday, February 26, 2024. Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff were in the city to perform stunts and interact with fans from an erected stage when all hell broke loose. Residents attending the event began scrambling over one another to get a closer peak of these cine-idols.

Local police and security personnel struggled to maintain order as the crowds swelled. Push came to shove and more before Shroff realised he best intervene. In a conciliatory tone, Jackie Shroff’s son thanked the crowed for their enthusiasm while also noting the inconvenience caused and claiming Lucknow’s palpable energy as one of the most trilling moments of his life.

But no sooner did Akshay and Tiger begin performing stunts than the mayhem escalated. So much so, that many of those present began flinging slippers. Then Akshay realised it was time that he himself speak up. The Airlift star pleaded for peace and quiet, elucidating the fact that there were women and children in the crowd. But it seemed that even this appeal from the Mission Mangal star fell on deaf ears.

Finally, with no resolution insight, law enforcers unleashed a brutal lathi-charge, which in turn caused a stampede. The grounds were eventually rendered empty, except for the preponderance of one type of item. Any guesses as to what that was? Slippers! And that too ironically from people who were given the boot. One hopes that the violence will be confined to the upcoming movie itself, which is scheduled to release on Eid-ul-Fitr, which will be April 9 this year. The film has been shot in Mumbai, Scotland, London, Luton, Adu Dhabi and Jordon. How is that for a cinematic “trip”!
