Salman : Beware of Casting Scamsters
Salman Khan’s production company alerts the public of phoney casting calls
If you are star-struck and are keen to join your favourite film stars on screen, or grab a place for yourself in the celluloid universe, don’t get your hopes up too much. Bollywood megastar Salman Khan has blown the whistle on a possible scam feigning promises to cast aspiring actors in one of his production company’s upcoming films.
A spokesperson for the Tere Naam star’s Salman Khan Films (SKF) released a cautionary statement recently: “This is to clarify that neither Mr. Salman Khan nor Salman Khan Films are casting for any film currently. We have not hired any casting agents for any of our future films.”
SKF, which was founded back in 2011, boasts 9 big-grossing productions thus far, while presenting several others. The production credits include flicks such as Chillar Party, Race 3 and Notebook. Salman himself has acted in some of its own productions such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Tubelight and Dabangg 3.
With SKF registering hits and blockbusters, it is not surprising that there are numerous aspiring actors who want to realise their dream of participating in a production by their idol. However, they best heed SKF’s plea on Instagram: “Please do not trust any e-mails or messages received by you for this purpose.” The social media missive added, “Legal action will be taken if any party is found using Mr. Khan’s or SFK’s name in an unauthorised manner.”
The soaring fortunes of SKF in recent years might likely trigger such malfeasance, especially with Sultan’s mesmerising name attached to it. And talking about illicit doings, the production company’s last release was the heist film Farrey, which marked the screen debut of Salman’s niece Alizeh Agnihotri. The hopeful take note: blood runs thicker than water... especially in Bollywood.
