PM Modi Opens India’s Largest Biz Complex in Dubai
On his recently-concluded tour of the UAE, the Indian Prime Minister cut the ribbon on a complex that will enable ambitious Indian firms to present their wares.
On the day Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the Middle East’s largest Hindu Temple, the charismatic leader inaugurated another significant Indian facility in the UAE. Indeed, Modi has seen to it that Dubai, the city of malls, is going to add a unique new installation to its ensemble. The Bharat Mart which is scheduled to open for business come 2025, is not just another shopping complex. It is a gigantic ware-housing facility for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to display a wide range of products in a one-stop-shop enclosure.
Joining Modi for this landmark occasion on February 14, 2024, was the UAE Vice-President and Ruler of the Dubai Emirate - Sheik Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Taking a leaf out of China’s book, the Bharat Mart will provide just the kind of exposure and potential business as the Indian neighbour’s Dragon Mart. So, what is the magnitude of this new construction? Well, it is no less than 100,000 square metres, as per a report by The Economic Times.
And what will this expansive space provide? It is expected to dazzle visitors with a whole gamut of warehouse, retail and hospitality units. By establishing this base and engaging in trade from the UAE, Indian exporters will greatly benefit from this kind of outlet for its goods and services. Located at the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA), this humongous complex will in time be expected to create forays for trade into other regions of the world.
According to Abdulla Al Hashmi, COO of Parks & Zones at DP World, the Bharat Mart will aid Indian businesses in expanding their operations across Africa, Europe and the U.S.A. This is one more step towards Modi’s vision in turning India into the World’s 3rd largest economy. It is likely to take these kind of bold measures toward edging out giants like Germany and Japan. And what better fillip to this ambition than collaborating with the UAE - India’s third largest trading partner with transactions amounting to 77.64 Billion USD (2022-2023). Jai Hind!
