Shocking! Dubai Woman Finds Human Nail in Amul Ice Cream

Dubai resident [Name Withheld] was left shocked and disgusted after discovering what appeared to be a human fingernail in a tub of Amul Pista Kulfi ice cream. The family-sized tub was purchased from a hypermarket in Oud Metha on Sunday, February 16. A long-time consumer of Amul's ghee and butter, she never imagined she would experience such a horrifying incident with a brand she trusted for years.

"We usually don’t buy Amul ice cream, but my husband picked up a tub that day. We decided to indulge in it later that evening. I scooped out a bowl for everyone and sat down with mine, excited to enjoy it," she recalled.
However, her enjoyment turned to horror on the third bite. "I felt something unusual in my mouth, and when I pulled it out, I was horrified. It looked exactly like a human fingernail. I tried to calm myself, hoping it was just a pistachio shell, but the more I examined it, the clearer it became that it was indeed a fingernail."

Her first thought was relief that her four-year-old child had not taken that particular bite. But as the disgust set in, so did concerns about the hygiene standards of Amul’s production facilities. "I couldn't shake off the thought that if something like this made its way into my tub, what other lapses might be happening in their manufacturing?"
Determined to bring the issue to Amul’s attention, she took to social media, sharing her experience on Facebook and Instagram while tagging the brand. Yet, no response came from Amul. She then escalated her complaint by emailing the company, only to be redirected to their exports division. "I wrote to them, but I haven't heard a word since. No apology, no explanation—just silence."

She also contacted the hypermarket where she bought the ice cream. "They assured me they would notify the supplier, but that’s not enough. This is a serious food safety issue, and Amul needs to address it directly."
In a bid to make her voice heard, she tweeted to Amul on February 20, despite not being an active user of X (formerly Twitter). "It’s unacceptable for a brand with such a strong reputation to ignore such a grave concern. At the very least, I expected an acknowledgment, but all I have received is indifference."

Her story raises concerns about product quality control and consumer rights. With no response from Amul, she now wonders how many other consumers might have encountered similar issues without recourse. "I trusted this brand for years, and now I feel betrayed. If this is their response to a serious contamination issue, how can we continue to trust their products?"

She hopes her experience serves as a wake-up call for both Amul and regulatory authorities to ensure higher standards of food safety and better consumer grievance redressal mechanisms. "We deserve better than silence," she said.
