Kangana Thinks Netaji Bose was India’s First PM! But Is She Right?

Bollywood actress-turned politician Kangana Ranaut is known for her outspokenness. But this time, she has shot her mouth off to make a glaring error. While talking on an Indian news channel, she actually referred to Indian freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose as India’s first Prime Minister!

The Manikarnika:Queen of Jhansi star was speaking with Times Now new channel host Navika Kumar at a political summit show, when she said, “Tell me one thing, when we got independence, where did India’s first prime minister Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose go?” This is not surprising though - coming from a woman who claims India’s Independence occurred with the election of P.M. Narendra Modi in 2014.

Even a 2nd Grade child knows that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was Independent India’s first political chief executive. Interestingly however, though Kangana obviously made a mistake, she might not be entirely wrong. The celebrated Netaji did form the Azad India (Free India) Government in Singapore on October 21, 1943, declaring himself Prime Minister, Head of State and Minister of War.

Anyway, the feisty Ms. Ranaut’s blunder has attracted the ridicule of KT Rama Rao, a political leader from the Bharat Rashtriya Samithi (BRS) who said, “Where did these people graduate from?” Meanwhile, film personality Prakash Raj took to social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), making a dig at Kangana and her supporters with the post: “Clowns of Supreme Joker’s Party.”

Regardless, the ambitious Ms. Ranaut is delighted that India’s ruling Bharatya Janata Party (BJP) has named her as one of their 111 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. And that too from her home state of Himachal Pradesh, where the BJP has been faring well in recent polls. Perhaps, she will have more luck from the ballots than at the box office.
