Celebrate the King of Fruits at Indulgent Mango Festivals in UAE
This prized seasonal fruit is the subject of carnivals and celebrations in the Middle East Country in late June and early July, 2024.
Residents and tourists, get ready to treat your taste-buds to the world’s most succulent fruit at the UAE’s 3rd Annual Mango Festival. Between June 28th and 30th, the King of Fruits will be the subject of a slew of activities from tastings to competitions to art. At the Expo Khorfakkan in Sharjah, these creative tributes to the mango fruit will unfold over the said dates from 4:30 pm to 10 pm daily. This carnival of sorts is guaranteed to draw farmers, agriculturist, fruit trades, orchard owners and managers, fruit-oholics, mango aficionados and the curious public. Prizes and give-aways are to add to the lure of this festival.
“Mango Mazayna” Event: a unique mango pageant
Translating to “Beauty Contest”, the "Mazayna" contest involves participants submitting one variety of mango that has been grown, nurtured and plucked from their own farm or house. Judges will inspect and taste the specimen while also conducting an examination of the location bearing the fruit along with documents of land/domicile ownership. It goes without saying that the fruit handed in must not be blemished in any way.
Most Beautiful Basket Contest
Only for ladies aged 18 or above, here is a wonderful opportunity for them to demonstrate their skills at crafting the most appealing mango basket. As per the requirements of this event, participants may show off their aesthetic acumen by creating and decorating a hand-made basket holding the lucky fruit. Not to exceed 4 kilos in total, the container worthiest of the King of Fruits, wins.
Most Beautiful Artwork Contest for Children
What better compliment to the Mango than having children presenting artistic renderings of the coveted fruit? Youngsters between the age of 8 and 12 need only present their UAE ID to register for this colourful contest. Sculpted models or paintings or other forms of art and craft are welcome for adjudication, although each pre-pubescent participant can hand in only one submission.
Connecting Hearts – The Mangolicious Way
For those who haven’t had their fill of Mangoes at the Sharjah festival, the Pakistan Association Dubai together with the Consulate General of Pakistan, has another upcoming surprise. On July 6th, the concerned parties have organised another festival at Dubai’s Oud Metha locale. There will be mango tastings of several varieties while chefs at live stations will whip up dishes using the fruit as a key ingredient. What’s more, there will be competitions, games and magic shows. Visitors, brace yourself for the most tantalising of mango storms to rip through the UAE.
