Dubai has earned the distinction of being the globe’s most picturesque city at night. The bustling Middle Eastern hub secured the top spot according to an expansive study by the long-haul, personalised holiday planning firm Travelbag. The internationally-recognised company arrived at this conclusion after considering a total of 136 cities on the basis of several criteria. These include cleanliness, style, air quality, lighting, safety and volume of Instagram hashtags.
Indeed, when the sun goes down in the UAE’s financial capital, the city exudes captivating scenery which features one of the world’s most astonishing skylines. Dubai’s superlative physical infrastructure boasts glowingly streets, well-manicured verdure and opulently-crafted locales.
What’s more, extensive law enforcement and security features during the later hours make it a safe haven for tourists and residents to imbibe the dazzling night-time atmosphere. This is true whether they are walking through parks, strolling across malls, or hopping from pubs to nightclubs.
Tourists on social media have singled out the imposing, majestic and sparking Burj Khalifa as a major contributor to the beauty of Dubai’s cityscape. Also finding exceptional favour with visitors is the Marina Harbour with its fancy yachts, diverse eateries and apartment complexes. Clocking in second by Travelbag’s calculations is Tokyo which has garnered 17,167 posts on the social media platform. Taipei narrowly beats out Dubai in terms of low crime rate after dusk. Interestingly, Travelbag rates Reykjavik as Europe’s most picturesque city although other top urban destinations in the continent may scoff at the distinction. Nevertheless, even with its extraordinary daylight views, it looks like darkened skies bring out the true beauty of Dubai.
