Sick Prank! Poonam Panday faked own death to "spread awareness" about cervical cancer
The Bollywood actress and model, known for her outspokenness and raunchiness in film, TV and social media has died from cancer.
Everyone who thought about this must be like, "maine toh pehle hi bola tha". She is alive and well. Physically. Can't say the same about her mental health though. She faked her own death yesterday to "spread awareness" about cervical cancer!.
Yesterday, Poonam Pandey became an undesirable statistic when she succumbed to cervical cancer on Feb 1, 2024. But only for a few hours
As per reports, the fourth largest cancer killer among women globally claimed its latest celebrity victim while she was at her family home in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The deadly disease dubbed the “silent killer” because of its tendency to show no clear symptoms, crept up on the much-loved personality. It seems Poonam was deprived of adequate time to seek effective treatment after being diagnosed recently.
Until yesterday, as biting irony would have it, the 32-year old star of The Journey of Karma, passed away hours after Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced the government’s scheme to vaccinate girls against the malady. Poonam now joins a long list of other celebrities to fall victim to the ailment. This includes former First Lady of Argentina Eva Peron and Jade Goody from the 2007 Big Brother notoriety.
Speaking to the media company Hauterrfly, Poonam’s manager Nikita Sharma said, “Her unwavering spirit amid her health struggles was truly remarkable.” Looking at the bigger picture, Sharma added, “Her passing compels us to recognise the critical need for increased awareness and proactive measures against preventable diseases like Cervical Cancer.”
The Deceased’s Instagram account has been inundated with remarks from fans. While most of them have been expressing grief at their idol’s demise, others have displayed some degree of scepticism. Yes, the latter have posted comments claiming that Poonam’s death might be nothing more than a publicity stunt, especially given how she craved the spotlight on social media. After all, Poonam once offered to strip naked in broad daylight if India would win the 2011 Cricket World Cup (a promise she didn’t fulfil). She also made public her volatile relationship with ex-hubby Sam Bombay.
The actress, who made an auspicious debut with the 2012 film Nasha, went on to carve a niche for herself in Indian Television with such shows as Total Nadaniyan and Lock Upp. Though Poonam’s thriving career has been tragically cut short, she has undoubtedly left behind an impressive body of work.
