Delivery Robots to Hit the Streets in Dubai Locality!
A trio of these advanced prototypes are soon to be unleashed.
Beware all you delivery boys out there. Robots might soon take your place! At least, that is the vision of Dubai Future Labs and its partner Lyve Gobal. These two tech firms have come up with a mobile automated invention to deliver food and groceries. Well, at least within the confines of The Sustainable City, Dubai. That is because these robots-on-the-moves won’t have to contend with vehicular traffic in this pedestrian-friendly plaza. This pilot project comes in alignment with Dubai’s mission to make a quarter of all inner-city trips autonomous by 2030.
Soon, three of these innovated specimens will be released to bring goods from restaurants and stores to clients’ homes. And all in just a question of 30 minutes. They are programmed to ride safely on the area’s sidewalks and even detect charging stations in case their batteries run low. Yes, humans can just put their feet up as they watch these electromechanical marvels at work. Such assurances come straight from a director at Dubai Future Labs – Mr. Khalifa Al Qama.
Al Qama’s colleague and Lyve Global CEO - Mr. Hassan Hallas – adds that “deploying cutting-edge delivery robots” is bound to “revolutionise logistics” After all, his company’s product comes with some dazzling additional features. These include, a fleet-management system fitted with a real-time tracking device; a system to monitor the client’s orders; and a delivery compartment accessible only by the customer. It is advisable that the makers install a defence mechanism as well. After all, who wouldn’t want to make off with one of these babies!
