Short+Sweet Theatre Festival Dubai 2026 announces its Top 20 shortlisted plays after attracting over 250 artists and 1,500 attendees. The multicultural festival now heads into the semi-finals and grand Gala Final this May.
Dubai, 11 May 2026: Dubai’s theatre scene is buzzing with excitement as the Short+Sweet Theatre Festival 2026 officially reveals its Top 20 shortlisted plays after three weeks of captivating performances.
Selected from 66 original productions, the finalists have been divided into the Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice categories, bringing the festival one step closer to its highly anticipated Gala Final later this month.
Running from April 18 to May 23, the festival has already featured over 250 artists and welcomed more than 1,500 audience members, showcasing Dubai’s growing love for live theatre and performing arts.
A Multicultural Celebration of Theatre
This year’s festival stands out for its incredible diversity of performances, featuring comedy, drama, musicals, and experimental storytelling. Audiences can also enjoy plays performed in English, Hindi, Arabic, and Farsi, reflecting Dubai’s multicultural spirit.
From emerging talent to experienced performers, Short+Sweet continues to provide a platform for bold ideas and fresh creative voices.

The festival will conclude with the glamorous Gala Final on 23 May 2026 at New Covent Garden, where shortlisted plays will compete for top honours at 3:30 PM & 7:30 PM
The evening show will also include award announcements celebrating the festival’s best performances and productions.
