UAE Charity Ride Raises AED 2.4 Million for Cancer Care After Historic Cycling Challenge

Dubai, 03 August 2026: Cycle Against Cancer has successfully completed its remarkable 3,333km endurance ride from Barcelona to Paris, raising AED 2.4 million for Al Jalila Foundation—more than 25% above its original AED 1.8 million fundraising goal.

Over 25 days, a team of 15 riders, including cancer survivors, business leaders and cycling enthusiasts, crossed Spain and France while conquering more than 54,000 metres of elevation. Many participants rode in memory or honour of loved ones affected by cancer, turning the journey into a powerful symbol of hope, resilience and community.

Founded by Guido De Wilde, a stage 4 colon cancer survivor, the initiative aims to raise awareness and funding for cancer care while inspiring those facing the disease through stories of courage and determination.

Following the successful expedition, organisers have increased the fundraising target, with donations remaining open to provide even greater support for Al Jalila Foundation's cancer care programmes. A gala celebration is also planned for September to recognise the riders, partners and supporters who made the initiative possible.

The ride may have reached its finish line in Paris, but the mission to support cancer patients across the UAE continues.
