Pushpa 2 Star Allu Arjun Taken into Custody in Stampede Case
The Telugu movie actor has been apprehended after a complaint was filed by an aggrieved family at the tragic movie release event.
December 13, 2024: Actor Allu Arjun has been arrested in connection with a stampede at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad during a special screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule on December 4, 2024. The incident tragically resulted in the death of Revathi, a 39-year-old woman, and left her 8-year-old son hospitalized.
Revathi and her family, including her two children, were at the event when a massive crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor, who made an unannounced appearance. The situation escalated as Allu Arjun's security team tried to control the crowd, reportedly pushing people, which led to chaos. Revathi and her son fell unconscious due to asphyxiation caused by overcrowding. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Revathi was declared dead upon arrival
.Following a complaint from Revathi’s husband, police registered a case under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) (causing hurt) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The complaint accused Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre’s management of negligence. Officials noted that inadequate crowd control measures and the lack of a dedicated entry for the actor contributed to the tragedy. The screening continued after the incident amid heavy police presence, but the event sparked protests from political groups and public outrage over safety failures
Allu Arjun was taken to the Chikkadapally police station for questioning. His statement is being recorded, and he is expected to undergo a medical check-up. The case highlights concerns about crowd management and public safety during high-profile events.
