UAE Air Taxis to Blast Off in Near Future
10 flying cars to go airbourne in the Middle Eastern country
With vehicular congestion mounting in Dubai and all-encompassing metro lines still a distant dream, UAE residents are looking upwards in hope. Meeting this need for gracing the skies is a Dubai-based aviation operator which has recently placed an order for a dectet of air taxies. Indeed, Europe’s Crisalion Mobility is going to be providing Air Chateau with 10 of these flying cars... so that the latter can get this much-needed aerial cab service off the ground.
This exciting new development marks the European company’s maiden commercial collaboration with West Asia. Each envisioned specimen will be able to hold 5 passengers and soar to a speed of 180 km/h with a travelling distance of 130 km at one shot. This will cut travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 90 minutes on the road to less than half in the air. What’s more, the flying machine will be conservation-friendly, running on an electric battery.
But it’s not just the UAE that’s looking skyward. Neighbouring Saudi Arabia too wants in on this project - in line with its Vision 2030. Air mobility for travel time reduction: that seems to be the mantra. Joby and Archer Aviation too will be the proud owners of these ascending vehicles not too long from now. Given the bustling hub that Dubai is, it’s not surprising that it makes for Air Chateau’s ideal trial market. So says the firm’s chairman – Sameer Mohamed – while also expressing gratitude to local authorities for making this dream an imminent reality.
After the “Integrityair Taxi” or “eVTOL” makes its debut in the UAE, the skies are not the limit - with Mohamed already eyeing those of Europe, South Asia and South East Asia. It looks like there is a lot of air in the wings of this ambitious and visionary project. Expensive helicopters will soon have to move over and make way.
