After news surfaces of Shoaib Malik's recent marriage, his ex-wife of 13 years Sania Mirza breaks her silence
The Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has come clean about her divorce from her ex-hubby Shoaib Malik. The doubles sensation put rumours to rest about her split from the former Pakistan cricket captain in the wake of his announcement in marrying Sana Javed. This would be Malik’s third marriage in all.
Is it “Third Time’s the Charm”? Resorting to social media on Saturday, Jan 20th, 2024, Samia shared an image of his latest betrothed with the annotation: “And we created you in pairs”, signifying their mutual affection and compatibility. The family of his estranged Numero Duo subsequently issued a statement indicating that Malik and Mirza had been officially divorced for several months, but preferred to keep the details of the partition under wraps.
The revealing communiqué read as follows: “Sania has always kept her personal life away from the public eye. However, today the need has arisen for her to share that Shoaib and she have been divorced for a few months now. She wishes Shoaib well for his new journey ahead. Evidentially preferring to avoid a media frenzy, the statements added, “At this sensitive period of her life, we would like to request all fans and well-wishes to refrain from indulging in any speculation and to respect her need for privacy.”
According to the record, most celebrities parted ways due to busy career schedules leaving little time for togetherness and thus causing a strain on the relationship. However, Sania and her family have not spelt out such in definite terms, causing the public to conjecture as to the underlying reasons for the split. Sania and Shoaib were married on April 12, 2010, after 10 mediators were used to finalise his divorce from his first spouse Ayesha Siddiqui. In 2018, Sania and Shoaib had welcomed a son Izaan. The five-year-old has been living with his mother in Dubai.
