Rape-Accused Karnataka MP Prajwal Revanna Arrested
The politician is in deep trouble on returning to India after absconding abroad.
Almost a month after leaving India for Germany, Member of Parliament and suspended party-man of Karnataka’s Janata Dal Secular (JDS) – Prajwal Revanna - has returned to state capital Bengaluru to face the music in a serial sex-abuse case. The 33-year-old from the Hassan constituency was arrested on arriving at the Bengaluru International Airport in the early hours of Friday, May 31st, 2024.
The MP had fled India earlier this month after literally thousands of videos surfaced of him molesting women. Through his advocate Arun G, the disgraced politician has requested that the media refrain from launching a “negative campaign” against him, especially since he has returned to “fully cooperate” with investigative agencies.
Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) assigned to the sexual-harassment case has appealed to keep Revanna in judicial custody for 15 days. The “Holenarasapura Case” as it has come to be known, threatens to irrevocably besmirch the image of Revanna as the testimony and evidence against the accused is overwhelming. Even the alleged criminal’s mother has been served notice to appear before the SIT on Saturday, June 1. It looks like Revanna is in a tight corner with his own party distancing itself from him. One wonders what political cards or aces up his sleeve he has left to play.
