Poonam Pandey Opens Up About Death Stunt
The actress has interacted with the media for the first time since the false news of her death.
After putting out a media campaigning declaring herself dead and then announcing that she was actually alive, model and actress Poonam Pandey has a lot of explaining to do. More than three weeks after the bizarre antic, a video has surfaced of The Journey of Karma star conversing with media personnel about the weird gimmick. Here, she seems intent on clearing the air.
Though shot down for the prank, which many people claimed was ill-conceived and in bad taste, Poonam is sticking to her guns. The contestant on the 2022 TV reality show Lock Upp, has insisted that the hoax was essential in highlighting the scourge of cervical cancer that claims the lives of numerous women annually.
The recent revelatory video which has been doing the rounds online, shows Poonam stating her case while denying that the stunt was aimed at garnering undue publicity. Translated from Hindi, she said, “Have you never lied in your life? And if someone benefits from my lie, I will tell such a lie a thousand times.” The Aa Gaya Hero item girl added, “Regardless of what people have said about me, not a single person among them ever talk about cervical cancer.”
Concluding on a somewhat conciliatory note, Poonam said, “So what I am doing today for cervical cancer is an issue for everyone. I would like to apologize to my fans as well.” The early February crying wolf stunt has landed Poona in hot water as she faces a Rs. 100 Crore Defamation Law Suit. This despite Poonam seeking the forgiveness of the All India Cine Workers Association which demanded the Mumbai police file an FIR against her. One wonders what the young lady’s next exploit will be.
