Kerala Lass Sets Guinness Vocal Record

A young lady from Kerala has a special accolade to place in her closet. Yes, it’s nothing less than a Guinness World Record for exercising her musical voice box in no less than 140 languages. Suchetha Satish performed the extraordinary feat during the Concert for Climate in Dubai, UAE on November 24, recently receiving the news that she is one of the latest entrants in the globally-acknowledged book. Her vocal “range”, posted on Instagram, has enthralled listeners from far and wide.

Sharing the wonderful news on the social media platform, Suchetha wrote, “Happy to share the news that by God’s grace, I have set a new world record. Thank you all for your wishes and support”. It took the Malayali woman a total of 9 gruelling yet glorious hours, to squeeze in all the musical verses. The Indian Consulate Auditorium in Dubai was the happy venue to this fantastic achievement. And why was 140 tongues the target? Well, that’s because that is exactly the number of countries that participated in the COP28 Summit in Dubai.

With this unique breaching of the sound barrier, Suchetha has done more than her bit to raise awareness for Global Warming. It is more than likely that her melodious voice for this cause will be heard by policy-makers, lobbyists, activists and youngsters throughout the world. As expected, Suchetha has been deluged with messages of praise for pulling off her astounding accomplishment. Incidentally, the celebrated Ms. Satish has become one of 60 persons of Indian origin to leave their mark in the Gusiness Book of World Records.
