UAE Expat Wins AED 15 Million in a Lucky Draw
A quirk of fate triggers a monetary windfall for this humble winner.
Al Ain, UAE, September 5, 2024: Gambling might be a bad habit. But with moderate stakes it can pay a lot. Just ask Nur Miah Shamshu Miah. The 40-year-old gentleman, originally from Bangladesh, has won AED 15 Million in the Big Ticket raffle draw. That translates to almost 4 Million USD. How's that for a boost in income for the middle class father of three.
Miah’s had bought the fateful ticket number 201918 at UAE’s Al Ain Airport recently. Little did he know that the random purchase would pay off in such fasion. The news of his magically-acquired fortune came to him courtesy a phone call from hosts of the Draw - Richard and Bouchra. The call prompted immediate celebrations at Miah’s end.
The festivities unfolded with two of his best friends, with whom he plans to share the treasure. His other soon-to-be-fulfilled dreams include renewing his UAE visa and financially taking care of his household. He credits God and patience for winning this jackpot. Miah might also want to thank Big Ticket’s August winner - Indian expat Tushar Deshkar. It was his fingers that pulled out Miah’s ticket.
There were ten other winners in the Draw, taking home AED 100,000 (USD 27225). How’s that for a consolation prize! What’s more, the organises of the raffle have announced that the Grand Prize draw will continue on a monthly basis, tempting more potential winners to stake the ticket cost. After all, who knows when their luck will change… for the better, that is. Also up for grabs in the October 3 live draw, is a Maserati Ghibli luxury vehicle worth AED 400,000, ensuring that the winner can drive in style all the way to the bank.
